Sea Quest runs a 3 to 4 hour catamaran cruise out of Marina Pez Vela in Quepos, with round trip transportation included from the Quepos and Manuel Antonio area. The boat carries a maximum of 75 travellers, and the trip mixes time on the water with a stop at Biesanz Beach, where admission is free.
Food and drink are a big part of the day. You get a cooked meal on board, choosing fish, chicken or a vegetarian dish, served with sautéed vegetables and a cold pasta salad, and gluten free meals are available on request. Four alcoholic drinks per person come with the cruise, chosen from beer and house cocktails such as piña colada, margarita, mojito and guaro sour, plus unlimited soft drinks, juices and water. Cookies and fresh fruit are available during the whole cruise.
Reviewers repeatedly describe a friendly crew, a roomy and clean boat, and food and drinks they called delicious and fantastic. Some rough-water days and rainy season sailings have cut snorkelling short, but passengers reported swimming, diving and sliding off the boat instead, and one even spotted humpback whales. Gratuities are not included, and photo packages are sold on board.
A few practical things shape how this cruise goes, from seasickness to what the included drinks actually cover.
Common issues. The cruise is not wheelchair accessible, and infants must sit on laps. Weather matters: the operator can cancel or reshape the trip for poor conditions, and rain has prevented snorkelling on some sailings, though swimming and the slide carried on. The experience also requires a minimum number of travellers, and if that minimum is not met you are offered a different date, a different experience or a full refund. Gratuities and photo packages cost extra.
The cruise includes round trip transportation from the Quepos and Manuel Antonio area, a meal on board with fish, chicken or a vegetarian dish, four alcoholic drinks per person, unlimited soda, juice and water, snacks of cookies and fresh fruit, and snorkelling equipment. Gluten free meals are available on request.
Yes, round trip transportation from and to the Quepos and Manuel Antonio area is included. If you prefer to drive yourself, the meeting point is Marina Pez Vela in downtown Quepos, in front of Gelateria Amorosi, with free outdoor parking, and you should arrive at least 20 minutes before departure.
Gratuities are not included, and photo packages are available to purchase on board if you want them. Everything else listed, from the meal to the snorkel gear, is covered.
Most travellers can participate, and infants must sit on laps, so families do join. Note that the boat is not wheelchair accessible, and it sails with up to 75 travellers.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside 24 hours there is no refund and no changes are accepted, with cut-off times based on local time. If the operator cancels for poor weather or because the minimum number of travellers is not met, you are offered a different date, a different experience or a full refund.
The listing strongly recommends coming prepared to avoid seasickness, so bring a remedy if you are prone to motion sickness.
